Flooring
While the full history of wood floor inlays and designs is not well documented, their popularity soared during the 11th century. During the Renaissance period, beautiful inlay designs were all hand made by the use of hammer and chisel. Designed wood floors over two hundred years old are still in use throughout parts of Europe providing testimony to its timeless beauty and endurance.
The Industrial Revolution reversed the economic feasibility and designed wood floors slowly faded away.
Made with only the finest hardwood flooring and a variety of species available from around the world we are able to offer, our standard engineered and solid hardwood range or bespoke service. Consultation with the client allows the design and style, to be tailor made from either range.
Solid Wood or Parquet
This is timber through and through removed as a block of wood from the tree. They are processed into wood flooring planks or strips with tongue and groove edges, either pre-finished or finished on site. Solid Hardwood is available in random length configurations, between 400mm - 2200mm (On average 1500 to 2000 meter lengths). With prefinished hardwood flooring, a micro bevel edge is used to prefect the manufactures finish on our wood flooring.
Engineered or Multi-Layer Wood Flooring
This comprises of either two or three layers of wood, which are cross layered. The top layer is hardwood and the layers below are also wood-based products, for example, a spruce core and pine base to create a robust and stable floor. All species of wood are affected by climate change in particular Beech, Maple & Ash and the cross layered construction of engineered/multi-layer floors provides stability, reducing the natural wood movement by up to 70%.
